I’m Courtney. With a decade of experience, I specialize in weddings, family portraits, and creating lifestyle content for editorial projects, large brands, small businesses, and non-profits. Serving my clients is truly a joy.
I live in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan with my husband, Michael, and three year old son, Eddie.
I’m a big feeler. I’m emotionally invested in my clients and endlessly grateful to be doing this work.

I have a bachelor’s degree in fine art from the University of Michigan and a minor in environmental science. I have worked for large and small brands as well as hundreds of couples and families all over the country.
Northern Michigan is home and I love it here. Outside of work, I’m a mom, amateur cross country ski racer, co-ed rec soccer league player, artist, home-cook, pontoon-boat lounger, and margarita drinker.

I’ve always been an artist, but finally found solace in the medium of photography. I fell in love with photographing weddings on accident. On a trip to Key West with my husband, I ended up as the second photographer for our friends wedding, and the experience really stuck with me. I never looked back.
I am here to go with the flow and capture the authenticity of your day. I can’t wait to show you those in-between moments, the moments you may have missed, and the memories of your friends and family here to celebrate you. Cheers, let’s have a great day together!
Michael Kent
Support crew, tech consultant, bag man, bff, husband.
All kidding aside, Michael is a great photographer and talented problem solver. He used to work with me full time as a wedding videographer, but now works in the marketing and communications field. His favorite job is being a dad. Since having our son, and changing career paths, Michael is far less involved in the day to day workings of Courtney Kent Photography. However, he is still a critical team member and he might even be your second photographer!
He loves movies, podcasts, bicycles, trail running, hardware stores, breakfast, and beer.
We’ve been together for over a decade and married since 2016.
Let me just say- Courtney is awesome! As soon as we saw her work and spoke with her we knew we wanted to book her. She was very professional and easy to work with. She actually helped me more than anyone with putting together my day of timeline! Her assistant was also great. Both were very personable and did a great job getting shots without being intrusive to your day. The pictures truly capture the emotion and excitement in the day. Can’t recommend Courtney enough!
